The School
We know our School offers the very best environment for students to learn the art of Dog Grooming. Classic Canine Cuts is a Commerical Dog Groomers as well as a training school, this offers our students the best insight into the world of dog grooming. Students are able to see how staff interact with not only the dogs but their owners too.
We are a City & Guilds and OCN approved assessment centre. Our advice to any prospective student, who is intent on a career in dog grooming is to insist that your trainer is a City & Guilds or OCN qualified trainer and ideally the grooming school is a City & Guilds and OCN approved assessment centre, as proof of quality grooming and teaching practise.
Our Facilities:
The school offers a dedicated, spacious, calm and open plan grooming area, separate from the bathing and drying areas.
All areas of the school are well lit and fitted with safety flooring throughout.
The Training Area
Comprises of 5 student workstations, with access to clippers, blades, brushes, combs, etc. Each workstation has a hydraulic table with ‘H’ Bars and industry standard restraints for the safety of both the dog and student.
The Bathing Area
Our bathing area is fully fitted with industry standard equipment such as:
- Stainless Steel Baths (height adjustable)
- Thermostatic Shower Supplies
- Double K Driers
- Drying Cabinet
- Shor~line Restraints
Commercial Dog Grooming Course
(Our Most Popular Course – Suitable for those with little or no experience of grooming)
The aim of this course is to prepare the student to earn a living from grooming. This course is taught to City & Guilds Level 3 standards. A School diploma is issued on successful completion of this course.
Course duration is 30 Days, Monday to Friday 10.00hrs – 16.00hrs.
The cost of this 30 day course is £3150.00
*Those wishing to become Qualified will need to complete the respective examinations.
City & Guilds Level 2 – Dog Grooming Assistants (7763-02)
This level is ideal if you want to begin working in the dog grooming industry and want to learn the skills you need to work under supervision in a dog grooming salon.
To earn this qualification, you must complete a range of mandatory and optional units, including:
- Bathing and cleaning dogs
- Controlling and restraining animals
- Handling payments from clients.
- Recognition of health problems
- Brushing, de-matting and bathing and some basic clipping and trimming
- Health and safety in the salon
- Ear cleaning, nail clipping
Practical & theory assessments for the qualification
This
City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma (7863-03)
This course has replaced the 7763-03 Certificate/Diploma for Introductory Dog Grooming.
You must have already achieved your 7763-02 Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants to be able to register for this course.
This course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in becoming a professional dog groomer and for established groomers seeking to update their knowledge and techniques. This course provides in-depth training and general knowledge and offers the student a wide range of practical experience with a variety of breeds.

This 30 day course and examination is £4400.00 and includes registration with Heavenlyz and the First Aid Course
City and Guilds Level 2 & 3 Combined
(7763-02 & 7863-03)
This course is suited to the individual that wishes to become a fully qualified Dog Groomer. This course is run over 50 days and students will be required to cover the following topics:
Level 2 Topics:
- Prepare and groom dogs prior to bathing for grooming
- Bathe and clean dogs
- Control and safely restrain dogs
- Dry dogs and prepare their coats for styling
- Basic trimming of the coat
- Undertaking reception duties
- Handle payments from customers
- Safely moving dogs between locations
* You will need to complete a set amount of recorded and signed tuition, sit a practical and online theory exam to achieve the City & Guilds Level 2 Qualification.
Level 3
You must already have achieved your level 2 City & Guilds to be able to advance to this qualification.
This course looks to combine all of your knowledge learned, both theory and practical. You will be assessed on your practical skills via an exam. This ensures you can maintain the health and safety of the animals and staff whilst also producing a fantastic groom. You will need to show an understanding of how a salon is run. You will be required to also sit one theory exam.
This 50 day course and examination is £6000.00
OCN Level 3 Dog Grooming Course
Designed specifically for those looking to become fully qualified dog groomers or those who currently groom but do not currently hold a nationally recognised qualification, the OCN Level 3 is an alternative to City &
If you are an experienced Dog Groomer we are able to offer a Fast Track version of this course, which doesn’t require you to undertake the full training.
Students wishing to undertake this qualification will be required to register with
Students undertaking this as a course will be required to complete a 40-day training course and this must be completed within 12 months of their registration date. You will be required to provide evidence of grooming ten different dogs. Eight of these dogs will be assessed through photographic evidence and two are assessed via examination by an independent examiner.
Students will be required to complete the following:
- Welcome, receive and care for customers
- Assess, plan and record dog grooming work
- Health checking by a dog groomer
- Carry out styling and finishing of a dog
- Promote and maintain the health and well-being of animals
- Canine First Aid (additional costs)
This course is run over 30 days, you will be required to complete the 1 day OCN Advanced Companion Animal CPR and First Aid for Pet Care Professionals Certificate. Your catalogue of evidence must include the evidence for the entire bathing and grooming process for 8 different breeds including 15 different styles ( different coat types with a variety of head, tail, feet and body styles demonstrated). You are also required to complete the written questions.

OCN Level 3 Fast Track
(For Experienced Groomers Only)
If you are an experienced groomer but have yet to achieve your qualifications then the OCN Level 3 Fast Track may be suitable for you. To be able to register for this course you must have at least 12 months of experience in which you groom 3-4 dogs per day. There are no written examinations, however, you will be assessed on the grooming of two dogs. You are not required to have any previous qualifications for this route.

Dogs are provided by the school throughout the training, having previously been assessed for their suitability for training purposes.
